  • Be sure DMR has current cell phone numbers to reach you

  • Keep your availability up to date in Nowsta.

What do I need to do if I am not able to clock in for work?

  • If you cannot clock in using NOWSTA, text Steve immediately.

  • If you are not able to work any accepted shifts please contact Steve right away. Do not wait until the last minute. This will allow us to have time to potentially find someone else to cover the shift.

How do I report my hours to make sure I get paid?

  • Use the NOWSTA app to clock in/out for your shift and breaks (location services must be enabled).

  • Some sites require sign-in sheets so ask a manager if they have one if you do not see it—log times accurately and take a photo for your records. Record any breaks as well.

  • If you do miss a clock in or clock out for any reason on the Nowsta app, please let Steve know within 24 hours to fix your time sheet.

  • If hours are not logged in appropriately on Nowsta and client sheet, DMR cannot guarantee proper payment. Unless discrepancy is 100% DMR's fault and hours were reported properly, there will be no special payment issued.

What are the details I should know about about payments?

  • The pay period ends on Friday, direct deposits are made the following Friday.

  • 6% deduction for Workers’ Comp Insurance, coverage begins on your first day.

  • No taxes are withheld from payments.

  • The pay scale begins at $15 per hour with a 4-hour minimum guarantee if you are on time, in uniform and do not ask or volunteer to leave when no work is being offered by the client.

  • DMR cannot assist with any pre-payment arrangements your bank may provide.  DMR can only guarantee payment by Friday.

  •  It is the worker's responsibility to have current ACH paperwork on file with the Finance Office. Note that direct deposits are processed on Wednesdays and you would need to have it in by Tuesday prior for it to go to the account that week.

Please keep a record of your own hours for the date, time and places you have worked.  This record will be helpful when you are paid for the time worked.

What is proper conduct when working at job sites?

Your personal conduct should be appropriate to your workplace and its occupants. We expect you to conduct yourself well, treat guests and clients, as well as your co-workers, with dignity and respect. Quiet, appropriate behavior is required when serving or in the presence of any guests.  If there is a problem of any nature with a guest, the correct action is always to serve them cheerfully.  If the situation is a major disruption to operations or to other guests, report the problem as quietly as possible to your immediate supervisor.  It is important to maintain good relations with the client and provide a safe environment.  For that reason, a background check will be done on all subcontractors. If required by the client drug testing may be required.

Drinking alcohol or using illegal drugs while on the job, or reporting to work under the influence of, or possessing, using, consuming, or distributing is not tolerated and is grounds for termination of the contractor relationship. Dishonesty or theft are grounds for revocation of the contractor relationship.  This includes taking food or beverages home from the client.

There is no smoking at parties/events/kitchens. This includes Electronic/Vapor cigarettes. If there is a designated area on site, (even if it is outside) your supervisor will inform you of the area.  Hand washing is mandatory after smoking.

Health department regulations forbid eating or drinking while serving or while in the presence of guests or in any food preparation areas.  There is to be no eating of the client's food unless approved by the client.  No eating before or during the party/event.  You are responsible for eating before you arrive or after you leave the party/event.  If you are at an event where the staff is offered food, the supervisor will inform you.

What tips should I know before going to a job site?

The contractor will be responsible for providing all materials needed to complete the job.  When a contractor comes to a property it is important that they have the following:

  • Driver's License or Government issued ID

  • Property specific ID tags (if required)

  • All tools and equipment

  • Proper uniform

  • No personal items of value

Arrive on time! This is particularly important to all DMR’s Talent.

  •  Please arrive early, remember you do not start until you meet with the client.  It may take time for security check points and parking, please allow time for this.

  • If you are going someplace new, allow enough time to get there and find out where you are supposed to be.

  •  Be in uniform unless you have received other instructions.

  • Check in with the client and if instructed, sign in.

  • Please be courteous and helpful at all times.

  • Remember, all clients operate a little differently; we are there to assist them at their event, not instruct them how to do it.

Do I need to wear anything particular?

  • Check the job assignment on Nowsta for more details for that particular job.

  • All staff must maintain a clean and professional appearance.

  • No stains, logos, or insignias

  • Nonslip shoes

DMR Events is often judged by the way our contractors appear on the job.  We stress a well-groomed, and well-tailored appearance, and accordingly a favorable image is created

How should I handle guest interactions?

  • Handle complaints professionally—acknowledge concerns and notify a supervisor.

  • Never say "NO" to a guest; instead, respond with "I will check on that."

  • If a guest reports illness, do not comment on food preparation—alert your supervisor immediately.

  • If you are the recipient of any complaint regarding food selection or quality, accept the guests' complaint as positive criticism and thank them, let them know we value their input and will do all we can to provide a positive response to their complaint. If a guest has a special meal request, inform the supervisor and they will handle the situation.  If someone reports an illness to you implying a food borne illness that they believe they contracted from our service, say nothing regarding food or preparation.  Bring this matter to the event supervisor’s attention, and they will handle guests’ concerns.

  • Do not become too familiar with clients or guests. We are there to complete a job of service; we are not invited to join the party/event.  In addition, never say "NO" to a guest.  The appropriate response is “I will check on….” when addressing any questions/concerns they may. Do your best to provide for the request.

When do I get my 1099?

  • You will receive your 1099 via email in mid-January. It will be emailed to the email address associated with your Nowsta account.

  • If you do not open your email in the allotted time frame you will be mailed a copy to your address on file.

  • Note DMR is required to report to the IRS contractors who have earned $600 or more during the calendar year. If you have not met those requirements, you may not receive a 1099 for that year.
